Yamaha has hinted at wanting to get into a new vehicle category in the coming years but declined to reveal more information. However, this hint makes us believe that it’s about the new three-wheeled vehicle that’s based on the MWT-9 concept.
This information was revealed by Hiroyuki Yanagi, CEO, Yamaha in the company’s annual report. While we do like this news of the upcoming three-wheeled vehicle, the company might also launch the sports car that it showed in the concept form a couple of weeks ago.
The MWT-09 uses the engine from the MT-09 naked, however it will be re-tuned to suit the need of this three-wheeled vehicle. The two front wheels give exceptional cornering performance, something that a set of consumers would want from their machines. The lean helps the vehicle take on any kind of roads with ease and almost behaves like a car but with some limitations.
We’re expecting to see a couple of prototypes as we near the end of this year. However, the launch of the MWT-9 is expected to happen only by 2018.
