Yamaha had showcased a new project, Motobot, at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The last two years were spent in developing this project and it looks like, we’ll see something new at the upcoming 2017 Tokyo Motor Show.
The Japanese manufacturer has developed a micro site which shares the fun side of this project. While the idea was to develop an autonomous motorcycle riding robot that will help Yamaha develop the next generation rider safety technology, the teaser website shows a human in the Motobot clothing doing various activities.
Yamaha has also shared the roadmap for this dream project. By 2015, the Motobot had already done straight-line riding up to a top speed of 100 km/h, running a slalom course and a bit of cornering. For 2017, it plans to deduce the requirements for riding that exceeds human capabilities and lap a racetrack at 200 km/h or higher.
