Yamaha Motor India has announced that their growth in sales for July this year accounted to 36 per cent, as the company sold 50,286 two-wheelers as compared to 37,026 units sold in the same month last year.
The manufacturer has not revealed the exact figures for each product that was sold. However, the company owes the success to the Yamaha Alpha scooter that was launched at the 2014 Auto Expo. The sales of the scooter helped Yamaha to keep up the good sales numbers through the course of the year. In addition, the launch of the new FZ series- the FZ Version 2.0 and FZ-S Version 2.0 have helped the hike in sales figures.
Roy Kurian, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd, said, “The incessant growth numbers are a sign of Yamaha’s robust business plan and strategic customer engagement programs. This month we witnessed brisk growth due to our robust product line-up and new launches during the year. FZ Version 2.0 and FZ-S Version 2.0, launched last month, have indeed been key in boosting our sales, however, Alpha, launched at the Auto expo, continues to be the key contributor for us. The scooter segment has really taken off and is expected to be the growth driver for the two-wheeler industry. Against this backdrop, we are confident of continuing our growth story in the coming months as well.”
Yamaha Motor India currently has a line-up of products that include motorcycles and scooters. The company had previously announced that they would be concentrating on the scooter market till 2016 and the strategy seems to be working for them. The Yamaha Ray, Ray-Z and Alpha are enjoying a good demand in the Indian market. The manufacturer introduced fuel-injected versions of the FZ motorcycles and will soon launch the FI Fazer as well.
