- Yamaha R3 and MT-03 price announcement today
- To be priced from Rs 4 lakh
- Compete against KTM, Kawasaki and TVS in India
Yamaha is all set to launch the R3 and MT-03 in India today. The two motorcycle will make their debut in the country and compete against a number of motorcycles.
Both, the Yamaha MT-03 and Yamaha R3 are powered by the same 321cc, parallel-twin engine that has remained widely unchanged in all these years. This motor churns out 42bhp and 29.6Nm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. That said, the cycle parts and feature list on both are the same too. They ride on 17-inch wheels at both ends with USD forks and monoshock for suspension duties. Meanwhile, braking is done by single discs at either ends with ABS. Speaking of which, the R3 and MT-03 come with dual-channel ABS, LED headlamp and and LCD screen. While these serve the purpose, the list makes it underequipped compared to its rivals.
So, the Yamaha R3 goes up against the TVS Apache RR 310, BMW G310 RR, KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 400 and the Aprilia RS 457. On the other hand, the Yamaha MT-03 rivals the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G310 R and the TVS Apache RTR 310 in the country.
The two models will be available only at select Yamaha dealerships across the country. And since they are brought into India via the CBU route, the MT-03 is expected to cost Rs 4 lakh while the R3 will be priced at Rs 4.20 lakh, ex-showroom.
