The Yamaha MT-03 is finally on sale in India and we have already ridden it for a few days in Thailand. So, if you are planning to purchase the bike, here is our review of it through these images.
It’s no secret that the MT-03 takes design inspiration from the bigger models in the MT family. It looks distinct compared to its rivals and features a centre-set LED projector light flanked by twin brow-like LED DRLs.
Then, there’s the muscular fuel tank with the large flush-fit shrouds that also double as air intakes. Overall, the MT-03 looks butch and gets thorough streetfighter styling.
Powering the new Yamaha naked motorcycle is a 321cc, parallel-twin motor. It makes 41.4bhp at 10,750rpm and 29.5Nm of peak torque at 9,000rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox. Similar to the R3, the MT-03’s engine also feels smooth and accelerates linearly. However, it could do with better low-end grunt to ride through city traffic.
The MT-03 also has room for improvement in the braking department. Its brake lever has low feel and feedback. As for the ride quality, Thailand’s smooth and winding roads left us with a good experience. However, the same is yet to be tested for the MT-03 on Indian roads.
Yamaha has kept the MT-03’s feature list quite minimal. It only gets LED illumination, LCD, dual-channel ABS, and side-stand cut-off.
For reference, the Yamaha MT-03 gets a 298mm front and 220mm rear disc. These are mounted on 17-inch wheels wrapped in 110/70 front and 140/70 rear Dunlop tyres.
The asking price for the Yamaha MT-03 is set at Rs. 4,59,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it is available in two paint schemes – Midnight Cyan and Midnight Black. Compared to the KTM 390 Duke and the TVS Apache RTR 310, the new Yamaha offering costs Rs. 1.48 lakh and Rs. 2.16 lakh more, respectively.
