The MT-15 is the newest offering from Yamaha India that has been priced at Rs 1.36 lakhs. It’s a naked streetbike with R15 V3.0 underpinnings and styling adopted from the company’s MT series. In India, the MT-15 faces competition from the KTM 125 Duke. However, around its price, there are ten other motorcycles that can be considered. Here’s how the list looks like-
Within the brand, there are three motorcycles that can be considered. There’s the R15 V3.0 on which the MT-15 is based upon. Priced at 1.39 lakhs, it features a full-fairing featuring the same motors and cycle parts. Notably, it gets dual-channel and an aluminium swingarm in comparison to the MT-15 which gets single-channel ABS and a box-type swingarm. The next two are the naked FZ25 and its faired cousin, the Fazer 25, priced at Rs 1.32 lakhs and Rs 1.42 lakhs, respectively. Both motorcycles have dual-channel ABS and are powered by the same 249cc oil-cooled mill which produces 20bhp and 20Nm. The motor comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.
In the same category of motorcycles, you could also consider the faired Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 at Rs 1.38 lakhs for the ABS variant. The bike uses a 200cc motor that also powers the naked Pulsar NS200 and is capable of churning out 24.5bhp of max power at 9,750rpm and 18.6Nm of peak torque at 8,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Moving to other segments, there are three options from the Royal Enfield line-up. There’s the Bullet 350, Classic 350 and the Thunderbird 350 models priced at Rs 1.33 lakhs, Rs 1.53 lakhs and Rs 1.56 lakhs, respectively. All three bikes share the same powertrain which is a 346cc air-cooled unit that produces 19.8bhp of max power and 28Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. While the Classic 350 and Thunderbird 350 are offered with dual-channel ABS, the Bullet 350 is yet to be equipped with the safety feature.
You can also opt for two more options that have their own distinctive characteristics. First is the touring-focused Mahindra Mojo UT300 costing Rs 1.53 lakhs. The motorcycle features a 294cc liquid-cooled motor featuring a carburettor for fuel mixing. The motor is capable of producing 22.5bhp and 25.3Nm and comes coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. Next is the modern-retro Jawa Forty Two, an entry-level motorcycle from Jawa motorcycles. The motorcycle is powered by a 293cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine derived from using components from the Mahindra Mojo’s motor. It is rated to deliver 27bhp and 28Nm and packs a six-speed gearbox for transmission duties.
