- Based on the MT-03 streetfighter.
- Derives styling from Yamaha Niken.
- Unlikely to arrive in India.
Official design patents of a new three-wheeled motorcycle from Yamaha have been leaked.
The bike will be based on the MT-03 streetfighter that is on sale in global markets. It is likely to derive the out worldly styling of the bigger Yamaha Niken that is based on the MT-09. And similar to the latter, this bike also sports two wheels in the front connected to a central hub via two inverted forks on each side. The front wheels are most likely to be 15-inch units while the rear could use a 17-inch wheel.
The bike will derive styling cues from the MT-09 based Yamaha Niken
Components like the chassis, seat and tank are borrowed from the standard bike. It also uses the same 321cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 41bhp and 29.6Nm of torque. While the name and launch timeline are unknown, we can expect the bike to debut at the 2018 Tokyo Motor Show.
The bike might go on sale in global markets early next year. However, it is highly unlikely to arrive in India anytime soon.
