Yamaha will launch the MT-09 SP at the EICMA this November. The bike will be a higher-spec version of the MT-09 and will be sold alongside the standard bike.
The MT-09 SP is expected to sport the unique silver and blue paint scheme like the MT-10 SP. Although the bike is sure to get an Ohlins suspension setup as an upgrade, it is unclear if this setup would be a semi-active or fully-adjustable unit. We expect the MT-09 to make do with a fully-adjustable unit, as the semi-active Ohlins unit, similar to the one in the MT-10 SP, would increase the price of the motorcycle, thereby threatening the position of the standard MT-10.
The bike will continue to use the standard bike’s 847cc inline-three cylinder engine that produces 113bhp and 87Nm of torque. The six-speed transmission will additionally get a quickshifter. The MT-09 SP is also expected to feature the full-TFT display like the MT-10 SP.
The MT-09 SP will compete against the Triumph Street Triple RS and the Kawasaki Z900. It is unlikely that the bike will be sold in India.
