Yamaha launched the updated MT-09 in India at a price of Rs 10.88 lakhs. It competes with the Triumph Street Triple RS and the Kawasaki Z900. However, for a similar price, the Indian market has a number of bikes which you could choose from. Here is the list-
While the MT-09 is a streetfighter, you could opt for the Ducati Hypermotard 939. The supermoto bike is powered by a 937cc Testastretta L-twin engine which produces 112bhp and 98Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 11.16 lakhs.
If you are into long highway touring, you could opt for the Kawasaki Ninja 1000. The fully-faired sport touring bike uses a 1043cc in-line four cylinder engine. This unit produces 140bhp and 111Nm of torque. The Ninja 1000 is priced at an exceptional Rs 9.98 lakhs. Triumph offers the Tiger 800 XR, a road-biased adventure tourer. The bike is the entry-level model in the manufacturer’s adventure touring range and is priced at Rs 10.72 lakhs. It uses an 800cc in-line three cylinder engine that produces 94bhp and 79Nm of torque. Since this bike will soon be replaced by the new Tiger 800 range, Triumph is expected to offer discounts on the existing models.
Triumph also has the Thruxton R priced at Rs 11.30 lakhs. The bike sports a modern-classic design reminiscent of early motorcycle racing days. The Thruxton R uses a 1200cc parallel-twin engine that produces 96 bhp and 112Nm of torque. The Harley-Davidson Roadster also sports a 70s track racer-like design. The bike is priced at Rs 10.61 lakhs. Also on offer from the Milwaukee based manufacturer is the Forty Eight. The bike gets a low, traditional ‘Sportster’ design and is priced at Rs 10.53 lakhs. Both the Harley-Davidson bikes use a 1202cc V-Twin engine that puts out 96Nm of torque via a five-speed gearbox and final belt drive.
