Yamaha has finally revealed specifications for the MT-10 they unveiled at EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy. Yamaha's MT range now covers a wide spectrum of the market, starting from the entry-level MT-125 going all the way up to the litre-class MT-10.
The motorcycle employs a 998cc inline-four CP4 engine. It will have a power output of 158bhp at 11,500rpm, and 111Nm of torque at 9000rpm. This crossplane crank engine has been derived from the mill powering the 2015 YZF-R1, and has been tuned to offer more of low and mid-range torque.
The MT-10 is built around a Deltabox frame and benefits from some of YZF-R1's electronics package, including a three-level traction control system, three rider mode options and a slipper clutch. It also gets a cruise control system. Yamaha have revealed that there will be an extensive accessories list for the MT, including an official Akrapovic silencer, quickshifter, bigger screen, soft panniers, heated grips and a comfort seat.
The bike has been priced at 9999 British Pounds (Rs 9.6 lakh) in the UK. Its segment rivals are the BMW S1000R, Kawasaki Z1000, Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the new Triumph Speed Triple. At the moment, there are no details on the India launch of the motorcycle. Yamaha did recently launch the MT-09 in India, read more about that here.
