- Gets more features than the previous model
- The front suspension has been updated to USD forks from the conventional unit
- Now costs Rs 13,000 more than the previous model
Yamaha India has finally taken the wraps off the MT-15 2.0. It has been updated on the feature and mechanical front while retaining the design and other significant bits from the previous model.
First and foremost, the 2022 Yamaha MT-15 is equipped with USD forks instead of the conventional ones that we saw on the previous model and gets a new aluminum swingarm as well. It also gets an updated full LCD instrument cluster that now offers Bluetooth connectivity (Y-connect). This should give you access to phone calls/SMS/email alerts, phone battery status, malfunction notifications, last parked location and more.
All these bits have been derived from the R15 V4 and should now amp up the MT-15’s value quotient too. As for the design and motor, the bike remains unaltered on both fronts. You get the same Transformers-looking LED headlight and the aggressive styling with fancy colour schemes.
The 2022 Yamaha MT-15 is powered by the same R15 derived 155cc liquid-cooled VVA motor. It dishes out 18.4bhp and 14.1Nm. It’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch too.
Apart from the updated front forks, the 155cc Yammie has carried over the braking hardware. You get a 282mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc with single-channel ABS.
The asking price for the new MT-15 is set to Rs 1,59,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). That’s Rs 13,000 more than what it used to cost before. But is it worth it? We’ll let you know once we swing a leg over the MT-15 2.0
