- It will be launched on 15 March
- Expected to be available in blue and black colour options
- Will be positioned above the FZ range
The Yamaha MT-15 is one of the most anticipated motorcycles right now. Scheduled to be launched on 15 March, it was spied once again, draped in black paint, parked inside a factory. The Yamaha MT-15 is a naked street bike based on the fully-faired YZF R15 V3 and it will be positioned above the FZ range.
The motorcycle is already sold in the international markets. It carries an aggressive design with a sharp and minimalistic headlamp, muscular fuel tank with extensions and a high-set tail section. As for the features, it is equipped with LED headlamps and tail lamps along with a fully digital instrument cluster. The MT-15 is expected to be launched in two colours in India including black and blue.
Powering the Yamaha MT-15 is the same motor as the R15 V3. It is a 155cc, liquid-cooled motor that churns out 18.7bhp of power and 15Nm. This unit comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. The India-spec version is suspended on telescopic front forks and monoshock as opposed to the upside down (USD) front forks on the international version. Moreover, it incorporates a box-type swingarm as opposed to the aluminum unit on the R15 V3. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes on both the ends and it will be equipped with ABS.
The Yamaha MT-15 is expected to be priced between Rs 1.2 to Rs 1.3 lakhs and it will go up against the KTM 125 Duke and its own sibling, the Yamaha FZ25.
