- Likely to be equipped with an OBD 2
- Would monitor emissions in the real world
- Could result in a small price bump
Yamaha India could update the MT 15 V2 with the OBD 2 emission norms soon. A newly leaked RTO document has revealed few details about it and here’s what we know so far.
The BS6.2 norms are set to be in application from April and Yamaha seems to be working on the MT 15 V2 with an OBD (Onboard Diagnostics) sensor. So far, vehicles used to comply with emission norms in laboratory conditions but now, the update will monitor real-time discharge as well. And the same will be notified to the rider via the console readout incase of a malfunction.
The leaked document reveals the same as it states Bharat Stage Six (with OBD STAGE 2 B). We expect the change to be applied in the coming months as it would provide the dealers with a decent window for the current stock clearance. Apart from the OBD 2 update, the Yamaha MT 15 V2 will retain all the mechanical and feature bits.
It’ll continue to house the 155cc single-cylinder VVA motor with the output rated at 18.1 bhp and 14.1 Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The MT 15 features LED illumination, a fully digital console, and ABS. It rides on USD front forks and a monoshock while the braking hardware comprises a single front and rear disc. Currently, it retails at Rs 1,64,400 (ex-showroom Delhi) and is offered in various trims.
