India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. has inaugurated a Yamaha Training School (YTS) at the Bosco Boys Welfare Society, Borivali in Mumbai. This school will train underprivileged youth to improve their skills and eventually help them secure a job in future.
The company has taken this initiative in an attempt to empower the economically weaker sections of the society. Bosco Boys Welfare Society is a part of the company's CSR activities and is one of the partner organisations of Don Bosco Development Society in Mumbai. Those from the economically weaker sections of society will be imparted education and the underprivileged youth will be given technical training. They will be later employed as two-wheeler technicians at different Yamaha dealerships.
Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, "At present, there is a huge skills gap in the two wheeler industry which is fast expanding, on the other hand, a large number of unskilled youth are being pushed towards unemployment creating hindrance to the nation’s development. This partnership is meant to address this very concern by providing a platform to the economically weaker and unemployed youth to obtain a job oriented technical training in two-wheeler repair and servicing that meets industry standards. Upon successful completion of the course, the students will receive a certification by Yamaha Technical Academy that will help them gain suitable employment within the industry."
YTS will train the economically backward youth about two-wheelers and make them expert technicians. So it is a good initiative that will help them lead a secure life eventually. We hope more such manufacturers follow suit and partner with reputed NGOs in India to promote and encourage such activities.
