Yamaha Motor Company recently organised a Global Suppliers conference in Japan, where suppliers from all over the world participated. From India, a total of 15 suppliers were invited to showcase their latest technology and also to interact with the senior Yamaha management.
This conference is a platform for suppliers to understand Yamaha's vision and long term plans. Eight suppliers from China, Japan, India and Thailand were given an opportunity to exhibit and share their technology with Yamaha research & development and engineering team members via a technology exhibition. The exhibition, while giving a forum to suppliers to showcase their capabilities, also gave Yamaha R&D and engineering teams an opportunity to closely interact with suppliers from around the globe.
“This year our focus was to promote the Indian suppliers worldwide through this conference. It improves competitiveness among the suppliers and encourages them to develop materials and processes which are cost effective and best in quality, accuracy and design. Indian suppliers are not only able to showcase their technology and innovations on a global platform which is very good for improving motivation but they also get an opportunity to interact with Yamaha Research & Development and Engineering teams from various Yamaha group companies. This collaboration and involvement at an early stage is helpful in creating a Quality, Delivery and Cost (QDC) structure which is robust and efficient,” said Sanjiv Paul, manufacturing unit head, India Yamaha Motor.
