Indian Yamaha Motor is planning to export Yamaha R15 V 2.0 in Australia, according to a report on Indiancarsbikes. When it happens, this will be the second location after Japan that Yamaha is exporting its India made 150cc sports bike to.
A few months ago, the company began exporting the R15 Version 2.0 to Japan in small numbers to gauge whether it would be successful in the island nation. Their efforts have been aided by the fact that the 150cc sports bike meets all the regulations set by the Japanese authorities and now it looks like they want to try the same strategy in Australia. The report says the R15 will retail for AUD 3,995 (Rs 2.30 lakh) which is almost twice the price in India. The price in Japan is almost similar to the one in Australia.
Indian-made motorcycles being exported to other countries has been going for quite a while now. TVS and Bajaj have been exporting their products for a long time now with the former having a presence in South America for well over 19 years. However, this is the first time that an Indian made motorcycle will be exported to developed markets like Australian and Japan.
