- Yamaha R1, R3 and a few other models’ production stopped
- Result of improper vehicle testing in Japan
- Currently, sales are paused only in Yamaha’s home country
It seems like Yamaha has had to halt production for a few of its models including the YZF R1, YZF R3, and the Tmax. The brand has found itself amidst trouble regarding vehicle noise testing with improper data submission. However, the sales for the aforementioned products have only been paused in Japan while the international markets are functioning as usual.
While the R1 isn’t on sale in India, the R3 is. So, if you were to purchase one, it shouldn’t be difficult to find one at your nearest Yamaha dealership. But should you spend Rs. 4.64 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Yamaha R3? We recommend you read our road test review to find the answer.
For reference, the Yamaha R3 competes against the KTM RC 390, Aprilia RS 457, and the Kawasaki Ninja 500 in India. While the first not only cost less and offer way more features than the R3, the Ninja 500 costs more and offers an almost on-par package with slightly more power.
