The Yamaha R15 V3 was spotted testing in Delhi. R15 fans hoorah!
However, there is a catch - the spied test mule did not feature inverted forks like the international version of the bike. The international model also features ABS, a slipper clutch, LED headlamp unit and a digital instrument cluster. As Yamaha will look to keep costs in check, it is unclear how many of these features will actually make it to the India-spec model.
The R15 V3’s Deltabox frame houses a 155cc single-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). This unit produces 19bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm of torque at 8500rpm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Braking is done by a 282mm disc upfront and a 240mm disc at the rear.
We can expect the Yamaha R15 V3 to be unveiled in India at the 2018 Auto Expo. When launched, the bike will compete against the Bajaj RS200.
