Yamaha launched the 2020 iteration of the Aerox 155 scooter in Indonesia. While the scooter is unlikely to make its way to India anytime soon, it would be an interesting proposition considering it uses the 155cc engine from the sporty R15 V3. Design
The Aerox 155 has been designed like a pit-scooter although Yamaha fits it in the maxi-scooter range. Nevertheless, the Yamaha Aerox 155 is compact and has an aggressive design language. The front end comprises a split, full-LED headlamp housed in a sharp front fascia. Moreover, the side profile looks sleek but the Aerox 155 offers a seemingly large single-piece seat. And Yamaha is offering the scooter in a choice of four colours with sporty graphics.
Features
Yamaha has kitted the Aerox 155 with a blue-backlit LCD instrument cluster. This unit is Bluetooth enabled and can be paired to a smartphone. The scooter also boasts of a 25-litre underseat storage, remote locking system,USB charging port, keyless ignition, a hazard light switch as well as an engine kill switch.
Engine
Powering the Yamaha Aerox 155 is a retuned version of the 155cc, single-cylinder engine used in the R15 V3 that is sold in India. While the scooter also gets the VVA technology, it lesser power and torque to suit its character. So, the figures stand at 15.15bhp at 8,000rpm and 13.9Nm at 6,500rpm.
Cycle Parts
The Aerox 155 rides on 14-inch wheels at both ends shod with a 110/80 tyre for the front and a 140/70 tyre at the rear. Suspension is taken care of by telescopic forks upfront and a monoshock at the rear whereas a disc-drum setup handles braking.
