- Yamaha XSR 155 priced at Php 1,60,000 (Rs 2.43 lakh)
- Powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder engine
- Could be launched in India
Yamaha has launched the XSR 155 in the Philippines; one of its biggest South-East Asian markets at Php 1,60,000 (approx. Rs 2.43 lakh).
The motorcycle is built on the same Deltabox frame as the R15 V3 and MT-15. And in terms of design, it draws inspiration from its bigger retro-style siblings- the XSR 700 and XSR 900 making it a unique looking motorcycle in the 150cc class. It gets a well-contoured, 10.4-litre fuel tank, round full-LED headlamp, and tail lamp as well as a ribbed-pattern single-piece seat.
Further amplifying the retro look is the single-pod instrument cluster with chrome bezel. It displays speed, fuel level, odometer, trip, gear position, and clock along with other tell-tale signs. Nevertheless, the XSR 155 is powered by the same 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with VVA as the MT-15. This engine produces 18.7bhp and 14.7Nm and is paired to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
While the XSR 155 is already available in most South East Asian markets, it is also expected to be launched in India. If it arrives, we can expect it to be positioned between the MT-15 and R15 V3 in the country. And thanks to its unique styling, the Yamaha XSR 155 will not have a direct competitor in the country.
