- Honda CBR150R India launch likely
- Gets 16.09bhp, 150cc engine
- To rival Yamaha R15 V4
The Honda CBR150R is likely to be launched in India sometime soon. The news comes after the company’s president, Atsushi Ogata, hinted at the possibility in a recent interview.
While Honda already has a stronghold in the scooter segment with the Activa, it plans to focus more on the 150cc motorcycle segment in the near future. Moreover, the brand recently filed design trademarks for the CBR150R further igniting the rumour of its launch in India. Now, the Honda CBR150R makes for a strong competitor to the Yamaha R15 which has received tremendous response, especially with its V4 iteration.
To put things in perspective, the CBR150R is powered by a 150cc, single-cylinder motor that churns out 16.09bhp and 13.7Nm. On the other hand, the Yamaha R15 V4 offers a 155cc engine with VVA tech. It produces 19.3bhp and 15Nm. That said, with a 12-litre fuel tank and a kerb weight of 139kg, the CBR150R also weighs 2kg more than the R15.
As for its features, the CBR150R is underequipped compared to the R15 V4 which boasts of a quickshifter, traction control and Bluetooth connectivity- all that the Honda misses out on. So, one of the major factors to the CBR150R being able to square up to the R15 would be its pricing. If Honda offers the motorcycle between Rs 1.55 lakh to Rs 1.60 lakh, the CBR150R would be a good value-for-money product.
