A production version of what appears to be the Yamaha R25 has been spotted testing in Pukarwarta, Indonesia. The spy pictures show most of the shots from the rear and this bike appears to have similar tail lamp assembly as the R15 v2.0.
The Yamaha R25 concept was first shown globally last year and then introduced to the Indian market at the 2014 Auto Expo where it was one of the major attractions at the Yamaha stall. We expect to see the production version by the middle of this year along with an international launch. India on the other hand will get the motorcycle by the start of next year.
Coming back to the motorcycle, the photographer also said that there were three motorcycles-one in white, one in red and one in black. He also said that under the front faring, he saw dual headlamps, a V-shaped tail lamp and a short muffler which we suspect is not what will appear on the final version.
The Yamaha R25 is expected to be powered by a twin-cylinder 250cc engine and be mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine is seen mounted on a tubular diamond frame unlike the current R15's which uses a deltabox chassis. The front suspensions, however, are the traditional telescopic ones and are a little beefier than those on the R15.
If this is the production version, then we expect that it will share much of its looks with the smaller R15. We are eagerly anticipating such a motorcycle and will keep you posted on the details as they emerge.
