Yamaha’s much awaited 250cc motorcycle, the R25 was kept on display at an annual dealer’s meet in Indonesia. This is just the second sighting of the two-wheeler after it was seen in the flesh at the Tokyo Motor Show last year.
The pictures posted on tmcblog.com show the Yamaha R25 hogging the limelight on the stage created for the event. No details are available about the bike or were mentioned at the meet. However, Yamaha claims that the production version of the R25 concept will be a ‘superbike that you can ride everyday’. This surely means that the company is developing the motorcycle to be not just good on the track but also efficient to be ridden on the streets.
Yamaha had released a video before the motorcycle was brought out for display. The video, which can be seen below, features racing champion Valentino Rossi who seems to have liked the bike. The company hasn’t revealed many details about the motorcyclebut the bike apparently will be powered by an all-new liquid cooled twin-cylinder 250cc mill. The six-speed gearbox from the concept motorcycle will be carried over to the production variant.
There are no confirmations if Yamaha will bring the 250cc motorcycle to India. Nevertheless, considering our country to be an emerging bike market with a good demand for such bikes, the Japanese manufacturer should launch the new product here. We will have to wait till then to see what Yamaha’s strategy is.
