As soon as Yamaha vaguely announced its plans about the new R25, speculations about this exciting new 250cc motorcycle were brought to life. After months of anticipation and numerous spy shots and rumours, the R25 will finally make its global debut in Indonesia on May 20.
The R25 has actively made its way into the news, and for good reasons. It is the fifth motorcycle in Yamaha’s track-bred supersport family which currently includes the R1, the R6, the R15 and the R125. The R25 is expected to be powered by a 250cc parallel twin engine producing around 33bhp of power, putting the motorcycle right into the Kawasaki Ninja 250R territory.
Expected to go on sale in Indonesia starting May 20, the R25 has been spied yet again. This time the spy shots give us a peek at the front-end design of this sporty looking motorcycle.
According to Indonesia’s TMC blog, Yamaha is looking to sell about 1,800 units a month in the local market. When launched, the bike will reportedly come with a price tag of 53 million Indonesian Rupiah (Rs 2.75 lakh)
As for the Indian market, expect Yamaha India to launch the R25 by early next year. Once launched, the motorcycle will be seen competing against Honda’s single-cylinder CBR 250R at the lower end and the Kawasaki Ninja 300 at the higher end of the entry-level performance motorcycle segment in India.
