- Yamaha to launch both 321cc bikes
- Could be priced between Rs 4-4.30 lakh
- Will be brought through CBU route
Yamaha is set to launch the YZF R3 and the MT-03 in India tomorrow, 15 December. While the R3 competes againsts the newly launched Aprilia RS 457, Kawasaki Ninja 400 and the KTM RC 390, the MT-03 will rival the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G310 R and TVS Apache RTR 310 in the country.
Now, both motorcycles use a 321cc, parallel-twin engine that churns out 42bhp and 29.6Nm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch. Even the feature list is the same and includes LED lighting for the headlamp and tail lamp. It also gets an LCD screen with basic layout but comes without Bluetooth connectivity. That said, the Yamaha R3 and MT-03 are both under equipped when compared to their rivals.
Well, Yamaha hasn’t changed the hardware on the motorcycles. They ride on 17-inch wheels with USD forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is done with single discs at the both ends with dual-channel ABS.
Yamaha will offer the two motorcycle in select Blue Square showrooms and is expected to commence deliveries early next year. That said, the Yamaha R3 is likely to be priced at around Rs 4.20 lakh while the MT-03 is likely to be priced slightly under that price tag
