- R3 can be equipped with a rear seat cowl and visor
- MT-03 gets an optional rear seat cowl only
- Prices start from Rs. 7,500
The official accessories and their prices for the newly launched Yamaha YZF-R3 and the MT-03 have been revealed. These accessories are aimed at making the bikes look aesthetically more pleasing and enhancing their riding experience to some extent.
The Japanese bike maker is offering a rear seat cowl in two colour options – black and blue for the MT-03 and R3. It is priced at Rs. 7,500 and makes the rear section of the motorcycle look cleaner and sharper. Moreover, the YZF-R3 can also be equipped with a bubble-type polycarbonate visor which not only gives it a racier look but should also help with aerodynamics. It is pegged at Rs. 8,200.
Yamaha launched the new YZF-R3 and MT-03 in India last week at a rather steep price tag. While the former costs Rs. 4.65 lakh, the latter will set you back by Rs. 4.60 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). That makes both of them substantially more expensive than their closest rivals like the KTM RC 390 and the TVS Apache RTR 310.
The R3 and MT-03 are different in terms of design and the kind of ergonomics they offer while the rest of the aspects are identical. Powering them is a common 321cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 41.4bhp and 29.5Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch. They ride on 17-inch wheels suspended by upside-down forks and a monoshock. Braking is handled by a single disc brake at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
