- Gets graphics inspired by Yamaha’s MotoGP bike
- Remains unaltered mechanically
Yamaha has launched the new MotoGP edition of its 125cc scooter, the Ray ZR 125, in India. The company has introduced it alongside the new MotoGP editions of the R15 V4 and MT 15 V2 as a part of its ‘The Call of the Blue’ brand campaign. With an ex-showroom (Delhi) price tag of Rs. 92,330, this iteration of the Ray ZR 125 is slightly cheaper than the Street Rally variant of the scooter which starts from Rs. 94,830.
The changes on the new trim of the scooter are limited to a new livery which takes inspiration from Yamaha’s MotoGP machine. Sporting a full-black bodywork, it is adorned with bold ‘Monster Energy’ branding and logo on both sides of the front apron while the rear panel also looks busy with plenty of blue, white, and grey decals. This set of graphics makes the quirky design of the Ray ZR 125 look sporty.
On the mechanical front, the MotoGP edition of the scooter is the same as other trims. It is powered by a 125cc engine which benefits from a Hybrid Power Assist system and produces 8.04bhp and 10.3Nm of peak torque. Also, with a kerb weight of 99kg, it’s one of the lightest scooters on sale. It rides on a 12-10-inch alloy wheel combination that is suspended by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. The braking setup comprises a drum at both ends while an optional front disc brake is also available.
The prices of the Yamaha Ray ZR 125 start from Rs. 84,730 and go up to Rs 95,830 (both prices are ex-showroom).
