Yamaha has recalled their flagship motorcycles – the YZF R1 and the YZF R1M over potential fire risk in the US. This recall is a result of a faulty oil delivery pipe O-ring.
The Japanese manufacturer said that it is possible for an oil leak to occur from the O-ring on the oil delivery pipe where it enters the engine case because of improper assembly of the components. If a leak occurs, oil could leak onto the exhaust and in extreme circumstances the oil could catch fire.
As per Yamaha, a total of 146 bikes have been affected. Yamaha has asked the dealers to get in touch with all the affected bikes’ owners. The company will replace the oil delivery pipe O-ring free of cost.
The Indian arm of Yamaha also sells both the super sport bikes in India. However, it is still not clear if any of the Indian bikes are affected due to this issue.
