Driven by the good demand for its scooters, Yamaha has recorded a 12 per cent growth in sales in July. The Japanese manufacturer sold 65,244 two-wheelers in the last month in India and Nepal, up from 58,477 units it had managed to sell in the corresponding period, last year.
While the FZ and Fazer continue to perform well, the company has been capitalising on the sudden increase in scooter sales in the country. Acknowledging the growing demand for premium scooters, Yamaha recently introduced the Cygnus Ray ZR and Cygnus Alpha disc brake variant, which seems to have struck the right chord with the audience. Also, Yamaha’s image of being a youth-centric manufacturer has worked well for the company, both in the urban and rural areas. The company has also been expanding its footprint across the country, adding touch points in tier II and III cities, thus catering to a wider audience.
Speaking about the company’s steady growth, Roy Kurian, VP, sales and marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd said, “Yamaha as a brand in India is gradually getting connected to customers very well as the sales for the new products introduced in 2016 is picking up. Yamaha’s strong sales growth is indicating that the customer base has multiplied, which can be attributed to its investment in overall strategy, building customer touch-points, service quality and spare parts availability.”
