- Yamaha FZ-X trademarked
- Likely to be a new variant
Yamaha has registered a new motorcycle name in India –FZ-X. This development clearly suggests that the Japanese brand is looking to plug in a new bike in the country.
While there are reports floating around about a possible adventure bike based on the FZ series, we believe this bike will just be a variant of the current FZ25. The Japanese brand has taken the brand extension approach for this upcoming bike, where it has used the name of its successful brand to push its upcoming model. It’s a standard product and marketing strategy when a company doesn’t want to spend a lot to create a new brand.
When it comes to the adventure bike, it will be an extremely different motorcycle compared to the FZ-25. It will have different suspension, different tyres, better ground clearance and so on. So when such huge changes are made, motorcycle brands like to give it a new name to create a sense of new bike in the market. And that is when the company will spend a lot on marketing.
With the FZ-X, we think is just a variant that Yamaha is planning for the Indian market. Expect this variant to get a few additional features to make it look a bit touring ready.
