- Petronas YZF-R1 edition revealed
- Only 46 units will ever be made
- Costs Rs 41 lakh each
Yamaha’s Europe division has unveiled a new limited edition YZF-R1. It gets the same Petronas livery that is seen on its satellite team’s MotoGP bike.
The Japanese brand created this motorcycle to celebrate 46 years of Petronas – the main sponsor of the satellite team. Interestingly, this new motorcycle doesn’t just get aesthetic upgrades. It also gets a whole lot of performance goodies to make the bike go faster on a race track.
This special R1 gets Ohlins FGRT front forks and a TTX rear shock. A new steering damper can also be seen on the bike. For faster rubber changes in pitlane, there is also a quick release for the rear wheel. The bike's braking power comes from GP4-RX calipers. Brembo has also provided the clutch lever and front remote brake adjuster. The bike rides on fancy aluminium Marchesini wheels.
Yamaha will sell only 46 units of these. And each customer will get KYT helmet, brand tshirt and an opportunity to be a VIP guest in future MotoGP races. This bike will set you back by €46,000 each (Rs 40.67 lakh) making it one of a kind.
