Yamaha has reported a 28 per cent increase in sales in December 2016 compared to the corresponding period in 2015. The company sold 49,775 two-wheelers in the last month as opposed to 38,833 unit it had managed in December 2015.
While the rest of the industry has been suffering from a severe drop in numbers for the past two months, Yamaha has managed to report a significant growth. As a major chunk of its products are targeted at the urban audience, the cash crunch post the announcement of demonetisation hasn’t made a big dent in Yamaha’s sales numbers. The December aside, the company registered a whopping 32 per cent growth in 2016, selling 7.86 lakh two-wheelers in the domestic market.
Premium products like the FZ and the Fascino continue to be the top performers for Yamaha. Later this month, the Japanese manufacturer is planning to strengthen its lineup with the launch a quarter-litre FZ model.
