Yamaha has recorded an 8 per cent growth in sales in April 2017 compared to its corresponding period last year. The company sold 68,817 two-wheelers last month, bumping it to the fifth spot in the Indian two-wheeler industry.
The FZ range continues to be the top-selling motorcycle for the brand, while the Fascino and the Ray ZR are helping boost sales in the scooter segment. Even the FZ25 has been selling over 3,000 units, indicating a good start for the quarter-litre streetfighter. Yamaha claims that expanding in Tier-II and Tier-III cities has helped it boost its overall sales. With this, the company has displaced Royal Enfield as the country’s fifth largest manufacturer of two-wheelers.
Yamaha is looking to reach one million sales in the current year. While it already has a good set of mass market products in hand, the company will continue to focus on improving its reach across the country to help it achieve this target.
