Yamaha has launched a new disc brake equipped variant of the Saluto at Rs 54,500 (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The new variant is Rs 2,500 more expensive than the standard variant, and comes in four new paint schemes.
Except for the addition of disc brake and the decals, this new variant is identical to the standard Saluto. It is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder BlueCore engine, which puts out 8.2bhp and 9.8Nm of torque. This engine has been tuned to extract maximum efficiency, with the Japanese manufacturer boasting an efficiency of 78kmpl for this commuter bike.
Speaking about the new variant, Mr Roy Kurian, VP, sales and marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, “It has been our hallmark to continually innovate our products to have a strong connect with our customer base and ensure utmost customer delight. The new Saluto is aimed to provide safer and more controlled biking experience for the city traffic conditions. The same will be available in vibrant colour schemes and graphics to boost sales and create more excitement amongst customers. We are again very bullish on the new product which we believe will help us maintain the strong growth numbers we have witnessed in the last few years.”
The new Saluto is intended to expand sales in the largest demand category in India by targeting an audience looking for a fuel efficient 125cc motorcycle. With the addition of a disc brake, the company has improved the utility factor of the motorcycle. The new variant is available in four new paint schemes - glory green, bold blue, dashing white and majestic red. It competes with other 125cc commuter bikes like the Honda Shine, Bajaj Discover 125 M and the Suzuki SlingShot.
