India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. has signed an MoU with Bosco Boys Welfare Society to open a Yamaha Training School (YTS) in Mumbai. This initiative is a part of the company's CSR activities.
Bosco Boys Welfare Society is located in Borivali West and is one of the partner organisations of Don Bosco Development Society in Mumbai. The company's aim is to impart technical training to underprivileged youth and those from the economically weaker sections of society. They will later employ them across Yamaha dealerships as two-wheeler technicians.
Ravinder Singh, Vice President, Strategy and Planning, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd said, "At present, there is a huge skills gap in the industry and a large number of youth are pushed towards unemployment due to lack of technical skills. With the present MoU's we will develop a synergetic partnership with Bosco Boys Welfare Society in Mumbai, Maharashtra thereby helping deserving students find employment in the automobile sector via impartment of technical training and education. These partnerships will provide a platform to the economically weaker youth (male and female) to obtain a job oriented technical training in two wheeler repair and servicing that meets industry standards. Upon successful completion of this YTS course, students will receive a Yamaha Technical Academy certificate and a certificate issued by the Institute that will help them gain suitable employment within the industry."
Yamaha's plan of training the economically backward youth about two-wheelers and making them expert technicians is a good initiative. It will help them lead a secure life independently. More such manufacturers should partner with reputed NGOs in India to promote and encourage economically backward people. It will help them acquire technical knowledge, expertise and eventually, a secure job.
