Yamaha's latest offering is the tourer-focused Fazer 25. Its full fairing offers the promise of many stress-free hours on the highway, thanks to the wind protection. However, speaking at the press conference, Mr. Roy Kurien, senior vice president, sales and marketing at Yamaha Motor India, said that the target for the Fazer 25 was a mere 4000 units until December.
The explanation given was that among the smaller displacement offerings like the FZ16 and its faired counterpart, the Fazer, the ratio of bikes sold is one in ten, in favour of the naked sibling. The FZ25 sells around 2000-2500 units per month, as per the company. Considering a similar ratio, a target of 4000 units suddenly doesn't seem as small. However, if it really is to make inroads in the touring segment, it has an uphill task, with competition like products from the Royal Enfield stable in a similar price bracket.
