- Tenere 700 European pricing revealed
- Bookings to begin online
- Competes with KTM 790 Adventure, BMW F850GS
Yamaha’s most anticipated adventure bike, the Tenere 700 is finally hitting the showrooms in Europe. The Japanese brand has set the price of £8699 (Rs 8.15 lakhs) for the Tenere 700.
Interestingly, there’s a different pricing for the bikes booked online. The bike will go on sale online on 27 March, and the bookings will be closed on 21 July. Yamaha has priced the bike online at £8399 (Rs 7.87 lakhs). The deliveries of this middleweight adventure bike will commence from July onwards on first-come-first-serve basis.
The Tenere 700 gets its power from a 689cc from a parallel twin cylinder motor. While the engine has been borrowed from the MT-07, the characteristics of the bike are a bit different as there’s more bottom-end torque. Upside down front forks, radial brakes, spoked rims in the appropriate off-road sizes and dual-sport tyres round off the package. Suspension travel from the 43mm front forks stands at 210mm. The rear offers 200mm and has a remote adjuster as well. The dual 282mm front brake discs sit on a 21-inch aluminium spoke wheel, while the 245mm rear disc is positioned on the 18-inch rear wheel. The ABS is switchable.
This Dakar-inspired motorcycle gets rugged styling, and looks adventure ready. The bodywork hides the fact that the frame is a new double-cradle design. It allows 204mm of ground clearance. The fuel tank holds 16 litres of fuel and is good for 350km of riding.
The Tenere 700 competes against the KTM 790 Adventure and the BMW F850GS. While the BMW F850GS is sold in India, the 790 Adventure is yet to make its India debut. If it does, we think Yamaha might bring the Tenere 700 to India as well.
