- Is more off-road focused
- Powered by the same engine
- Will not be launched in India
If you thought the Yamaha Tenere 700 and Tenere 700 World Raid were the ultimate off-road focused motorcycles on sale, you’d be mistaken now. And that is thanks to the all-new Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme. As its name suggests, the motorcycle takes things to another level when it comes to off-road abilities and will be available in global markets soon.
Now, the Tenere 700 is aimed at skilled riders with credible experience in enduro or motocross riding. It offers 20mm extra suspension travel at both ends and a Kashima coating for the 43mm front forks. This Kashima coating is a layer of lubrication in the aluminium of the forks that reduces friction and ensures durability. That said, the Tenere 700 Extreme also has an extremely tall seat height of 910mm and would have a 6’3” rider on their tip-toes too. It also translates to a ground clearance that is the tallest of the range at 260mm.
To further set it apart, the Tenere 700 comes with titanium footpegs that offer 35 per cent more surface area as well as an aluminium radiator protector and flat, one-piece seat. Cosmetically, the Extreme is only slightly different and comes with an enduro-style front fender. In addition to that the Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme also gets a five-inch, full-colour TFT display that includes a Rally-style display with navigation.
Powering the motorcycle is a 689cc, CP2, parallel-twin engine with a crossplane crankshaft which is the same as the other Tenere 700 versions. While Yamaha is yet to announce the pricing for the motorcycle, it will be available in European in 2024. However, it is unlikely to be launched in India anytime soon. Although, we can expect the Japanese manufacturer to launch the standard Tenere 700 in the country next year.
