- Tenere 700 to costs $9999 in USA
- Deliveries to begin next June
- Unlikely to come to India anytime soon
Yamaha has finally revealed the pricing of their middleweight adventure bike, the Tenere 700 for the USA market. This motorcycle has been priced at $9999 (Rs 7.17 lakhs), making it the most affordable bike in its segment.
The deliveries for this bike is expected to commence next May and will be sold alongside two more model colours. The pricing for all the colour variants are similar. First unveiled at the 2016 EICMA as a concept, the launch of the Tenere 700 was delayed by a few years for reasons unknown to us. But now that it’s finally happening, it will be interesting to see how the company manages to attract buyers, especially when there are bikes like the KTM 790 Adventure.
The Tenere 700 is powered by a 689cc parallel twin cylinder engine. While the engine has been borrowed from the MT-07, the characteristics of the bike are a bit different as there’s more bottom-end torque. Upside down front forks, radial brakes, spoked rims in the appropriate off-road sizes and dual-sport tyres round off the package. Suspension travel from the 43mm front forks stands at 210mm. The rear offers 200mm and has a remote adjuster as well. The dual 282mm front brake discs sit on a 21-inch aluminium spoke wheel, while the 245mm rear disc is positioned on the 18-inch rear wheel. The ABS is switchable.
The Tenere 700 goes against the KTM 790 Adventure and the BMW F850GS. While the BMW F850GS is sold in India, the 790 Adventure is yet to make its India debut. Unfortunately, Yamaha India is too focused on making a big mark in the mass market segment. So there’s a very minute chance of this ADV making its way to India.
