Yamaha has plans to relaunch the updated R3 in India. The bike was discontinued as it didn't meet the needed BS-IV emission norms.
This news was confirmed by Roy Kurian, vice president, sales & marketing, Yamaha India, at the launch of the Fazer 25. However, the top honcho didn't reveal the launch date. The company also didn't divulge whether the updated R3 is merely about BS-IV and AHO compliance or more. The world knows that the Japanese manufacturer has been testing the 2018 R3. In fact, two prototypes were snapped on camera recently. The 2018 model is expected to get a cosmetic overhaul and new colour additions. There's no word out yet on the possibility of mechanical changes.
We’re expecting the global unveil of the 2018 R3 at the EICMA Show. But whether this model will make its way to India or we will just get a BS-IV compliant model, only time will tell us. The YZF-R15 V3.0 is on sale in Indonesia, however, the Indian market continues to get the version 2.0.
