Yamaha has unveiled two special edition models of the VMAX motorcycle to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the powercruiser. A part of the Japanese manufacturer’s Sport Heritage range, the VMAX Carbon and VMAX Matt Grey get their own special attire to set them apart from the standard models.
The VMAX Carbon, as the name suggests, has been clothed in carbon fibre, with the special lightweight material adorning the fuel tank, mudguards and the bodywork. The VMax Crbon also gets an Akrapovic slip-on exhaust, which might not aid its performance, but gives the bike a louder growl. The Matt Grey edition on the other hand takes a subtle approach and is meant for those wishing to design their own yard-built special motorcycle.
Mechanically, both the special edition motorcycles retain the 1,697cc 65-degree V4 engine, which is housed in a stock twin-spar frame. The liquid-cooled engine delivers 197bhp and 168Nm of torque, through a five-speed gearbox. Stopping power comes through dual 320mm disc brakes at the front and a 298mm disc in the rear.
For now, both the special edition bikes will be available only in Europe. Prices start at GBP 18,749 (Rs 17.73 lakh) for the VMAX Carbon, while the matt grey edition will retail at GBP 15,749 (Rs 14.90 lakh).
