Yamaha has unveiled its official motorcycle for the 2015 season of the FIM World Endurance Championship. Having won the last year’s WEC title, the Yamaha France GMT 94 Michelin Racing team will attempt to maintain its supremacy in the 2015 season, with the help of the all-new YZF-R1 motorcycle.
The racing team also unveiled its 2015 livery, which continues to feature the trademark blue/white racing colours of the manufacturer. The motorcycle will be ridden by David Checa, Kenny Foray and Mathieu Gines who helped them clinch the championship last season.
Yamaha recently launched the new YZF-R1 in the UK with a price tag of GBP 18,499 (Rs 17.82 lakh). Rumours have indicated that Yamaha will be bringing the litre-class superbike to India before the end of this year, with a price tag around the Rs 20 lakh. It will be imported to the country as a completely built unit (CBU) and will compete with the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, Aprilia RSV4 and the Suzuki GSX R-1000.
