Yamaha updates its entry-level R125 for Europe

Launched back in 2008, the Yamaha R125 has successfully proved to be an ideal base to start on for super-sport riding. Thanks to its striking design, impressive power-train and an aggressively sporty frame, the R125 has been the choice of many in the 125cc sportsbike category.

With the unveiling of the 2014 R125, Yamaha has given the bike its first major update since launch. The bike, as seen in the pictures, has been comprehensively improved with the list of updates including a new fairing design, revised fuel injection system, upside-down front forks and better brakes. 

Going into the details, the 2014 R125 gets a new R6-inspired front cowl which houses an air intake. With the upside-down forks at the front and a revised rear spring linkage, Yamaha claims the new R125 offers better stability and feedback at speed. The bike also features a new fuel-injection system which makes it 11 per cent more fuel efficient than the outgoing model. 

Furthermore, Yamaha has added a new LCD display which gives out all sorts of information to the rider such as engine temperature, average speed, maximum speed and fuel consumption besides the speedo and tachometer.  

To be offered in anodised red, matte grey and racing blue, the 2014 R125 will go on sale in Europe in April this year with prices expected to be listed sometime next week.
