- Faired MT-07 could be in the making
- Likely to use MT-07 chassis, engine
- Unveil in 2021
There are rumours suggesting that Yamaha is working on a faired version of MT-07. It looks like this bike will fill the gap created by the outgoing R6.
The rumours are so strong that this supersport is likely to be unveiled later this year, suggesting that the production bike is ready. To keep costs in check, the Japanese brand could use the same chassis that is seen on the MT-07. The other cycle parts like suspension and brakes could differ in order to make it more performance oriented.
Coming to its engine, the MT-07’s parallel-twin motor produces 74bhp which is a little less for a middleweight supersport. But we can expect the brand to have worked on that engine to churn out more power – maybe around 80bhp.
We can expect Yamaha to come with a brand new name and not stick to the YZF-R series as this one has great history and Yamaha would want to stay away from that unless this upcoming bike is full blown performance race bike.
