- Yamaha XSR 250 spotted testing
- Gets a few components identical to the FZ S FI
- India launch details not known yet
Yamaha was recently spotted testing a new motorcycle in India that is claimed to be the XSR 250 modern classic offering. Although there was no branding on the bike, the type of hardware present in the bike indicated of it being a Yamaha test mule.
Looking at the finishing of components, the motorcycle looks almost ready for production. The design of the fuel tank and the metal bracket for mounting the headlamp were closely similar to the XSR 155 available in the international markets. But what’s different from the existing bike is the seat that looks much bulkier and cushier. It also seems to offer a very relaxed and cruiser-like ergonomics while the bike sold abroad demands a more committed riding position.
Although it is claimed to be the XSR 250, it could also be the smaller 155cc version of the bike. Certain elements like the rear tyre hugger and the exhaust canister resembled that of Yamaha FZ S FI. While the engine can’t be seen clearly in the image, the presence of cooling fins along with radiator cowls under the fuel tank means this is perhaps an oil-cooled engine.
Young Indian riders have been showing a lot of interest in the Yamaha XSR 155 and that’s a good enough reason for the brand to consider bringing it to India. But it remains to be seen if Yamaha India launches the same XSR 155 available internationally or a larger XSR 250.
