Commemorating its 25 years, Yamaha recently launched the YZF-R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary Limited Edition in Europe. The model was limited to just 25 units and all of them were sold out right away. Moreover, it also came at a hefty asking price, which we have mentioned later in this story. Let’s have a close look at the Yamaha YZF-R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary Limited Edition.
Even with the GYTR package, the R1’s design remains unaltered. So, it gets the same twin projector headlights topped by a flat cowl and a transparent bubble visor. Owing to the edition, the R1 GYTR wears a different paint scheme of white, red, and black.
Apart from the aforementioned bits, the R1 GYTR gets a carbon-fibre sub-frame, a custom-made swingarm directly shared with Yamaha’s WBSK race bike, as well as a full-system Akrapovic exhaust.
The Yamaha YZF-R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary Limited Edition comes with a Magneti Marelli ECU, race setup switch cubes, a new TFT screen integrated into a carbon frame, and a custom-made clamp as well. Overall, there is extensive use of carbon-fibre for on the entire bike to make it lighter in terms of weight.
It’s powered by the same 998cc, four-cylinder motor, linked to a six-speed gearbox. It benefits from a clutchless quickshifter too. While the power figures are not out yet, we expect it to be above 200bhp.
To tame all the firepower, the R1 GYTR also gets a load of electronic rider aids in the GYTR Pro Electronic System module (GPES). It includes ride modes, wheelie control, launch control, engine braking management, and traction control too. We also expect it to have a pit lane speed limiter considering the bike is built for track use.
Its suspension setup comprises fully adjustable Ohlins FGR USD forks and a TTX monoshock with a preload adjuster. Meanwhile, the braking hardware includes dual front and a single rear disc with a Brembo setup. The R1 GYTR also gets forged aluminium wheels wrapped in race-ready slicks.
All these bits come together to form a package that costs an eye-watering EUR 1,59,000. For reference, it’s about Rs. 1.44 crore, sans the taxes.
