- Yamaha R15 sales grew by 151 per cent in September 2021
- Garnered 11,792 takers last month
- Sales stood at 4,696 units in September 2020
Yamaha Motor Company has recorded a massive increase in sales of the YZF R15 in India in September 2021. The company dispatched 11,792 units of the fully-faired motorcycle last month which was up from 4,696 units in September 2020. This was a bump of as much as 151 per cent. Moreover, sales were higher as compared to August 2021 as well when the brand retailed 9,590 units of the bike.
The hike in sales was mainly due to the launch of the new YZF R15 V4 on 21 September, 2021. Our dealer sources have informed us that the motorcycle has been witnessing high demand in India. And it’s clear from the sales numbers which are the highest for the R15 as compared to other Yamaha motorcycles including the FZ series, FZ25, and the MT 15.
In September this year, the FZ siblings could garner only 4,550 customers which was a massive dip over the corresponding last year. It was a similar case with the MT 15 as well as its sales figure stood at 2,541 units. As for the FZ25, although its numbers were nowhere close to the R15, it still recorded a hike of 87 per cent in its sales in September by fetching 1,562 takers in India.
The all-new Yamaha YZF R15 V4 is an improvement over its predecessor in numerous aspects. It gets a styling inspired by the bigger R7 along with segment-first features like traction control and a quick shifter. As for the hardware, the conventional telescopic forks up front have been replaced by upside down units. It continues to be powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled engine with VVA (variable valve actuation) that churns out 18.1bhp and 14.2Nm.
