A promotional video of the recently launched Yamaha YZF R25 has been released that shows the motorcycle in action. The video shows the bike with more details and also the engine note which sounds as good as a V-twin motor.
In the video one can see the measure of the brakes, like the front shows the 298mm floating disc and the dual-piston calipers. The frame is a diamond structure in a steel tube and the motorcycle weighs 166kg. This mass is distributed in a 50:50 ratio between the front and the rear. The diameter of the front fork tubes is 41mm and the engine produces 36bhp and 22.6Nm of torque. The engine gets forged aluminium pistons. It gets an advanced instrument console which integrates a shift indicator light, fuel consumption indicator, oil change indicator, trip meter as well as displays the fuel-injector diagnostics, gear position and engine temperature.
The motorcycle was launched in Indonesia on May 20, 2014 at a price of 53 million Indonesian Rupiah (Rs 2.71 lakh). The order books ran full and Yamaha also gave away freebies like Valentino Rossi merchandise.
The R25 is positioned as a sport bike that can be ridden every day, Yamaha says that the YZF R25 has been developed keeping ASEAN and developing markets in mind. Initially it was being called the ‘baby-M1’, however, the R25 bears no resemblance to the MotoGP racer. The production model carries a lot of design cues from the concept motorcycle that was on display at the 2014 Auto Expo. Deliveries of the motorcycle are slated to begin July onwards and we can expect the bike to be launched later this year in India.
