The Yamaha YZF-R9 is the newest entrant in the supersport motorcycle space. The bike sits above the YZF-R7, bridging the gap to the venerable YZF-R1. Here is a detailed image gallery of the bike.
The design language of the bike is on the same lines as the rest of the R-series bikes in the Yamaha lineup. The fairing looks sharp, with the integrated winglets while the tail section has a similar profile to the YZF-R1.
The bike has an 890cc, liquid-cooled, crossplane, inline-triple engine that makes 117bhp. The engine is known for its strong midrange and invigorating soundtrack.
As expected, the bike has an impressive electronics suite. There’s lean-sensitive ABS and traction control. The motorcycle gets multiple ride modes, including custom settings.
Regarding features, the bike gets all LED lights and a colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.
Moving on to the chassis, the bike gets an aluminium frame that Yamaha says is the lightest on any Yamaha supersport ever. The frame is a new, fully adjustable KYB fork and a monoshock.
Braking duties are taken care of by two 320mm disc brakes at the front with Brembo Stylema calipers and a 220mm disc brake at the rear.
The new Yamaha YZF-R9 has just gone on sale in International markets. There is no word yet on whether the bike will go on sale in India.
