Yamaha had unveiled the YZF-R1 GYTR limited edition at the EICMA 2018 and now, it has revealed the pricing of the motorcycle. Limited to just 20 units, it costs a whopping 39,400 euros (approx Rs 31.60 lakhs).
Yamaha introduced the YZF-R1 GYTR to celebrate the 20-year life cycle of the iconic R1 superbike and hence, the 20 units. The company has adorned it with the same red and white livery which was used by the Yamaha Factory Racing Team for their Suzuka 8 Hours race bike. Notably, Yamaha clinched the Suzuka endurance race title for the fourth consecutive time this year.
The company says that every unit of this R1 will be made as per the owner’s choice and, the Official Yamaha Racing Team itself will be looking after the process. Each unit will have its number engraved on the top yoke while a certificate of authenticity will also be issued to the owner.
This limited edition R1 is a hardcore track tool employing ECU (engine control unit) and CCU (computer control unit). Suspension setup includes Ohlins FGRT 219 forks on the front and TTX36 GP monoshock at the rear along with top-spec Brembo brakes. It gets a bunch carbon fibre parts such as the fairing, front and rear fenders, tank cover and ram air ducting. This, along with the Akrapovic (Full Evo 2 titanium) exhaust will save a lot of weight. As for the engine, Yamaha hasn’t disclosed any details about it.
According to the Yamaha’s official website, all the 20 units have already been booked but none of them will be seen out on the road since they are only for track use.
